Make the days count.

Time. We all struggle with managing the time we are given. We each get the same amount everyday but not all get the same number of days. I just read a Facebook post about a young mom of four children who lost her battle with cancer. Her life race is finished far too soon.

A few days before Christmas I said goodbye to my 84 year old mother who passed away. She had a full number of days and lived to see her great-great grandchild born. We don’t know the number of our days but God does. He holds each one in His hands. How we use the time we are given in this life is so important.

The Bible says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 NIV

I struggle with managing my time. My days are sometimes eaten up with the mundane stuff of life while the important things I want to do sit waiting for me.

King Solomon wrote, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV

In a few days we begin a new year—2018.  There are some important things I want to do this year. Complete The Beautiful Life writing project, and do more Nspire Women podcasts. That’s on top of the list of essentials life priorities like my relationship with the Lord, my health, and my family. I must also make time to manage all the details of our home and the business of our daily lives.

It’s a constant struggle to balance all these demands. Yet the Lord has a plan for us and it’s up to us to order and manage our days to match them.

I’m counting on the promises “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.” Psalms 37:23 NKJV

and

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”  Proverbs 16:9

I know the vision and plan God has revealed to me but their are many daily assignments yet to be revealed. As I start this new year we begin with a 21 day fasting and prayer season.  It’s personal tradition to wait on the Lord and dedicate the first weeks of the year to seeking Him.

I got a shiny new calendar and journal in preparation.  The tools of planning. I use my iphone and app tools too.  It’s up to me to make the choices that result in obedience to the vision God is calling me to. Will I number my days? Will I let my steps be ordered by God or will I be procrastinating and distracted by other things?

 My Prayer:

Lord, let me see your vision for this year. Teach me. Reveal your plans. Help me to follow your steps. Let all my steps be established. Help me find a time for every good thing and be organized in all my ways.
